Audition Information:
We will have a drum set, an electronic keyboard and amplifiers that you are more than welcome to use. Music can be
ordered from Mattei Music services at www.matteimusicservices.com. This is year C. If you haven’t got the music yet, let me know and I’ll help you out. In parts that are divided (1st and 2nd trumpet, 1st and 2nd trombone) make sure that all of your students are playing the 1st part. On the ballad, make sure your students play the melody line, INCUDING drum set players, who starting this year
will play the vibe part on the ballad. The improvisation will not be used for the region level audition, only for the advancement recordings.
For the region auditions, all students will play WITHOUT the CD (including drumset). For the area recordings, the students will play every
piece in its entirety WITH the accompaniment CD. For the improv selection, the students will play the “head” or melody during the first
chorus, and improvise for the remaining choruses.
They MAY NOT have any written out solo material. For the drum set players, they will play time on the first chorus and improvise on the remaining two choruses, hitting the syncopated kicks and fills on the third chorus. To see all rules for the audition, go to
www.atssb.org and click on “Auditions.” If you have any assistants that are available and willing to judge, please bring them along.
Clinic/Concert Information:
The clinic and concert will be Friday and Saturday, January 17th and 18th 2020 at South Plains College in Levelland.
